Recreational Leagues

Ages for spring 2020 leagues are based on players age as of May 1st, 2020.

	Shetland Mini League (ages 4/5) Tee Ball The Shetland League is an instructional Tee Ball League with the batter hitting off a tee *after* four pitches from the coach. Your child must be four years old by the start of the season. If your child will play in this league, they will not try out. The coaches of this program select the teams in conjunction with the League Director. Players of the same household are assigned to the same team. This is an introductory and instructional league only. Games are approx. one hour long, they are not scored and teams do not participate in the end of season tournament. During the season, there are two games a week and a practice on Saturday. In the fall season the Shetland Mini League is combined with the Shetland League. 	Shetland League (age 6) Coach Pitch The Shetland Coach Pitch League is an instructional coach pitch league for children age six. The players will be permitted to hit off a tee for the first half of the season only if they are unable to hit pitches from their own coach. If your child will play in this league, they will not try out. The coaches for this program select the teams in conjunction with the League Director. Players of the same household are assigned to the same team. This is an introductory and instructional league only. Like Shetland (4/5), games are not scored and they do not participate in the end of season tournament. During the season, games are two nights a week and a practice on Saturdays. 	Pinto League (ages 7/8) The Pinto League is an instructional coach pitch league and works to get the player ready for the Mustang League where players will pitch for the first time. While this League remains grounded in the teachings of fundamental instruction, the Pinto League season differs from the Shetland League in that score is kept and the concept of winning/losing with grace is introduced and developed. The typical time commitment during the regular season is two games during the week and a team practice on Saturday. Teams will participate in an end of season tournament. 	Mustang League (ages 9/10) The Mustang League is a competitive league that introduces the player to the more traditional game of baseball where coaches coach and players pitch. The pitcher's mound is 44' and the bases are 60'. The baserunners will be able to lead off and the pitchers will be taught to pitch from the stretch position. During the regular season, the typical time commitment is two games during the week and a practice on Saturdays. The teams will compete in an end of season tournament. 	Bronco League (ages 11/12) The Bronco League is a competitive league that works to prepare the player for the next level of baseball - either Middle School or the GBI Pony League, where the player will be on a full-size field while teaching the fundamentals of the game. The pitcher's mound will be moved to 48' and the bases will be moved to 70'. The baserunners will be able to lead off and the pitchers will be taught to pitch from the stretch position. 	Pony (ages 13-15) & Colt (ages 16-18) Leagues The Pony and Colt Leagues are competitive leagues that provide the player an opportunity to continue playing baseball through Middle and High School. Fundamentals are refined and skills sharpened as players participate on a full-size field. The pitcher's mound is moved to 60' 6" and bases will be moved to 90'. The players will be allowed to use big barrel and wood bats. Please contact League Director with questions. Pony/Colt League Director

Please note in the fall season kids participate in a league for which they are eligible in the spring of the following season. Example: The 2020 age rules apply in Fall of 2019. Players must play on a spring rec team to be eligible for summer All Stars. Players who "play up" into a higher age division for Spring rec will only be eligible for that higher age divison's summer All Star team(s).
