Hello GBI Families and Welcome to the 2024 Spring Season! My name is Brice Owens, and I’m the President of Garner Baseball Inc. I want to welcome all our new families to GBI, as well as welcome back all those families who are returning for another season of baseball. I hope your season is off to a great start and we’re done dodging all the rain. Games have kicked off this week and I know the players are all ready for Opening Day Ceremonies on Saturday.
Saturday will undoubtedly be a busy day at GBI. Games begin at 9:00 and Opening Ceremonies will take place at 11:30. Please arrive early as parking will be at a premium. We also ask that you respect our neighbors at the Depot Museum and refrain from parking in their spaces on Pearl Street.
I hope everyone has had a chance to see the improvements we’ve made over the offseason around the complex. Please help us keep GBI looking great. We need everyone’s help cleaning up after themselves and making sure trash ends up in trash cans. In addition, we need your help in making sure the rocks stay out of the drains and off the fields. Please note that GBI is a smoke and vape free facility. Also, dogs are no longer allowed at GBI. As GBI continues to grow, we’ve implemented these changes to provide an environment that is as safe and enjoyable as possible.
Please be sure to purchase pictures on Saturday with our friends from Bishop Photo. A portion of the proceeds is donated back to GBI. The online ordering code is GBI24.
Our concession stand will be open and serving up burgers, hot dogs, nachos, and drinks along with all sorts of candy. We will also have Blessed Dough Bites serving up coffee and doughnuts as well as Sweet Southern SnoBalls selling snow cones. We will have our friends from Grand Slam USA, Vision Sporting Goods, and Crack of the Bat out on Saturday, as well. Be sure to purchase your raffle tickets here for a chance to win a $500 gift card to Grand Slam. Coach Kevin from Crack of the Bat will also be here to sign you up for our summer camp.
I want to take this opportunity to thank all of our volunteers who help make GBI run. Our Board Members and Coaches give countless hours of their time to ensure our families and players have a great experience on and off the field. Please be sure to remind your player to thank their coaches for providing them the opportunity to play ball. In addition, thank you to all of our awesome Sponsors. Your support allows us to provide the best baseball experience in the Triangle. Please be sure to support them whenever you can.
Lastly, please remember sportsmanship starts with us. I ask that all parents, fans, coaches and players demonstrate sportsmanship at all times while at the ballpark. As adults, let's set the example we want our kids to follow.
I wish you all an exciting and successful baseball season. Be sure to follow us on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/GarnerBaseball. Please reach out to me with any questions or concerns.
